Since December 2009, and ‘in effect a European regulation governing the obligations of railway undertakings in respect of travel information, compensation and assistance in case of delay or cancellation of service, protection of disabled people, etc..

THE TRAVELER INFORMATION

Before purchasing a ticket the company ‘or who sells railway tickets on its behalf should provide information-on-demand:

  • Journey Times
  • The availability ‘of infrastructure for disabled persons;
  • Access for bicycles;
  • The availability ‘of seats in smoking and non smoking sections
  • About activities’ that could delay or stop the service (such as strikes, work, etc..);
  • Procedure for the recovery of lost luggage;
  • The procedure for submitting complaints.

During the journey the company must inform:

  • The services on board;
  • The next stop;
  • Delays;
  • Information concerning the safety of passengers.

THE TICKET

The ticket, or “travel”, attests to the conclusion of a contract between the companies’ railway and the passenger.
This is a contract of carriage of the passenger-and luggage and vehicles – governed by a regulation which is considered known and accepted at the time of ticket purchase.

LUGGAGE AND VEHICLES

The rules for hand luggage and vehicles are dictated by the regulation, such as transport vehicles.

As for free transportation of luggage or other objects easily (strollers, prams, car seats, etc..)
