InterRail Safety Tips
Since December 2009, and ‘in effect a European regulation governing the obligations of railway undertakings in respect of travel information, compensation and assistance in case of delay or cancellation of service, protection of disabled people, etc..
THE TRAVELER INFORMATION
Before purchasing a ticket the company ‘or who sells railway tickets on its behalf should provide information-on-demand:
- Journey Times
- The availability ‘of infrastructure for disabled persons;
- Access for bicycles;
- The availability ‘of seats in smoking and non smoking sections
- About activities’ that could delay or stop the service (such as strikes, work, etc..);
- Procedure for the recovery of lost luggage;
- The procedure for submitting complaints.
During the journey the company must inform:
- The services on board;
- The next stop;
- Information concerning the safety of passengers.
The ticket, or “travel”, attests to the conclusion of a contract between the companies’ railway and the passenger.
This is a contract of carriage of the passenger-and luggage and vehicles – governed by a regulation which is considered known and accepted at the time of ticket purchase.
The ticket is not ‘name and can’ be sold until they hit the road. You must be present data societies ‘railway, the acronym CIV indicating that the contract’ in accordance with European rules, and the necessary information to the traveler to assert their rights.

TRAVELLING WITHOUT TICKET

LUGGAGE AND VEHICLES
The rules for hand luggage and vehicles are dictated by the regulation, such as transport vehicles.
As for free transportation of luggage or other objects easily (strollers, prams, car seats, etc..) Provided they are placed in spaces which do not bear obstruction and inconvenience to other passengers and railway staff . This’ also applies to the storage of large size, for which on certain trains are planned spaces. Bicycles can be transported on trains national only if contained in a bag with a certain size limits (80x110x40) that does not cause a nuisance or danger to other travelers. On some trains, bikes must be placed in the appropriate spaces.
On regional trains the bicycle you can ‘bring along’ only if the train and ‘marked by a symbol depicting a bicycle, at a fee and placing in dedicated areas (usually at the front or rear of the train). If the train does not have the symbol of the bike may ‘only be transported inside the bag.
